Gujarati-style Paneer Butter Masala
Gujarati-style Paneer Butter Masala is a rich and creamy paneer dish that is a popular choice in Gujarati cuisine. This dish is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a flavorful and aromatic buttery tomato gravy.
Ingredients
- 250g paneer, cubed
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup tomato, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked and ground to a paste
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and sauté the paneer cubes until they turn light golden brown. Remove the paneer from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining butter and sauté the chopped onions until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the butter starts to separate from the tomato mixture.
- Add the cashew nut paste, red chili powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and mix until well combined.
- Add the sautéed paneer cubes and simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
