Gulai Ayam (stuffed Cabbage Rolls In Spicy Tomato Sauce)
Gulai Ayam is a traditional Sundanese dish that consists of stuffed cabbage rolls in a spicy tomato sauce. This flavorful and aromatic dish is a perfect representation of the rich and diverse flavors of Sundanese cuisine.
Ingredients
- 8 large cabbage leaves
- 500g ground chicken
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the cabbage leaves for 2 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, mix the ground chicken, onion, garlic, coriander, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides to form a neat roll.
- In a separate pot, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the stuffed cabbage rolls until golden brown.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and chicken broth. Simmer for 45 minutes until the cabbage is tender and the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve the Gulai Ayam hot with steamed rice.
