Guyanese Style Chow Mein

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chow mein noodles
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, julienned
  • 2 carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the julienned bell pepper, carrots, shredded cabbage, and chopped green beans to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the pan.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together until well combined.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
