Gyathuk Ko Masu is a traditional Sikkimese pork curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a popular comfort food in Sikkim and is often enjoyed with steamed rice or traditional Sikkimese bread.

Gyathuk Ko Masu (sikkimese Style Pork Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g pork, cut into cubes
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Add the pork cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the pork simmer for 45 minutes or until tender.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
