Gyathuk Ko Masu (sikkimese Style Pork Curry)
Gyathuk Ko Masu is a traditional Sikkimese pork curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a popular comfort food in Sikkim and is often enjoyed with steamed rice or traditional Sikkimese bread.
Ingredients
- 500g pork, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the pork cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the pork simmer for 45 minutes or until tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
