Ingredients

  • 500g chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup mustard greens, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bamboo shoots
  • 2-3 ghost chilies, slit
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the mustard greens, bamboo shoots, and slit ghost chilies. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is tender and the flavors are well combined.
  6. Once done, serve hot with steamed rice.
