Haam Sui Gwo (fried Shrimp Dumplings)
Haam Sui Gwo, also known as Fried Shrimp Dumplings, is a classic dish in Chiuchow Cuisine. These crispy and flavorful dumplings are a popular appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 20 square wonton wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped.
- Transfer the chopped shrimp to a bowl and add water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Mix well.
- Place a small amount of the shrimp mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the dumplings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the dumplings and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
