Hainanese Chicken Satay

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, ground cumin, turmeric, coriander, chili powder, garlic, and shallot.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
  4. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the chicken satay for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
  5. Serve the Hainanese Chicken Satay hot with peanut sauce or sweet chili sauce.
