Hainanese Chili Garlic Squid Stir-fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb squid, cleaned and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add garlic and red chili, and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the squid to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it turns opaque.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the squid and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer the stir-fried squid to a serving plate and garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.
