Hainanese Spicy Basil Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sliced red chili, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are no longer pink in the center.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the fresh basil leaves to the pan and toss until they are wilted.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and serve the Hainanese Spicy Basil Chicken hot with steamed rice.
