Hainanese Spicy Basil Chicken is a flavorful and aromatic dish that originates from Hainan cuisine. This dish features tender chicken pieces cooked in a spicy basil sauce, creating a perfect balance of heat and fragrance.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red chili, thinly sliced
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced red chili, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are no longer pink in the center.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the fresh basil leaves to the pan and toss until they are wilted.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve the Hainanese Spicy Basil Chicken hot with steamed rice.
