Hainanese Spicy Basil Tofu Stir-fry
Hainanese Spicy Basil Tofu Stir-Fry is a flavorful and aromatic dish that combines the bold flavors of Hainan cuisine with the heat of spicy basil. This vegan stir-fry is quick and easy to make, making it a perfect weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cubed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red chili, sliced
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and sesame oil. Marinate the tofu in this mixture for 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and chili, and stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Add the marinated tofu to the pan and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes, until golden brown.
- Stir in the fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
