Hainanese Tofu And Vegetable Stir-fry

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cubed
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup snow peas
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and vegetable broth to make the sauce.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add a splash of oil.
  4. Add the tofu to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
  6. Add the broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, and snow peas to the skillet and stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  7. Return the tofu to the skillet and pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Toss to coat everything evenly.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve the Hainanese Tofu and Vegetable Stir-Fry hot with steamed rice.
