Haipai Stuffed Tofu (海派豆腐)
海派豆腐 (Haipai Stuffed Tofu) is a traditional dish from Haipai Cuisine that features tofu stuffed with a flavorful mixture of ingredients and cooked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 1/2 cup minced pork
- 1/4 cup chopped shiitake mushrooms
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 8 equal pieces.
- Using a small spoon, carefully scoop out a small amount of tofu from the center of each piece to create a hollow space for the stuffing.
- In a bowl, mix together the minced pork, chopped shiitake mushrooms, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper.
- Stuff each piece of tofu with the pork mixture, pressing it in firmly.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then place the stuffed tofu pieces in the pan.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the tofu is golden brown and the pork is fully cooked.
- Serve the stuffed tofu hot and enjoy!
