Haitian Bread

Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the dough balls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the bread cool on a wire rack before serving.
