Hakka Fried Pork Dumplings (客家煎饺)
客家煎饺 (Hakka Fried Pork Dumplings) are a delicious and popular dish in Hakka cuisine. These crispy and savory dumplings are filled with seasoned pork and vegetables, then pan-fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package round dumpling wrappers
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, cabbage, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half and press to seal, creating a half-moon shape.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet in a single layer, making sure they are not touching. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Reduce heat to low and steam the dumplings for 8-10 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
- Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are crispy and golden brown.
- Repeat with the remaining dumplings, adding more oil to the skillet as needed.
- Serve the Hakka Fried Pork Dumplings hot, with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
