Hakka Sesame Chicken (客家芝麻鸡)
客家芝麻鸡 (Hakka Sesame Chicken) is a traditional dish from Hakka Cuisine that features tender pieces of chicken coated in a flavorful sesame sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and add the honey and sesame seeds. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat the chicken evenly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Hakka Sesame Chicken hot, garnished with extra sesame seeds if desired.
