Ingredients
- 1.5 kg pork ribs
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 4 slices ginger
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the ginger, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the pork ribs to the pot and brown them on all sides.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to coat the pork ribs evenly.
- Pour in the water and bring the liquid to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the pork ribs are tender.
- Once the pork ribs are tender, uncover the pot and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the braised pork ribs hot with steamed rice.
