Hamburguesa Jibarito (jibarito Burger)
The Hamburguesa Jibarito, or Jibarito Burger, is a delicious Puerto Rican twist on the classic hamburger. Instead of using a traditional bun, this recipe features two fried plantains as the "bread," adding a unique and flavorful touch to the dish.
Ingredients
- 2 large green plantains, peeled and sliced lengthwise
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon adobo seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the plantain slices for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with adobo seasoning and garlic powder. Form into 4 patties.
- Cook the beef patties in the same skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
- Combine the mayonnaise and ketchup in a small bowl to make the sauce.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a fried plantain slice on a plate, then adding a beef patty, Swiss cheese, tomato slices, lettuce, and the sauce. Top with another fried plantain slice.
- Serve the Hamburguesa Jibarito and enjoy!
