Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, and avocado for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, bread crumbs, cilantro, cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the mashed black beans. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil. Cook the black bean patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
- Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a black bean patty on each bun and topping with lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
