Har Cheong Gai (chilli Prawn Pasta)
Har Cheong Gai, also known as Chilli Prawn Pasta, is a popular dish in Singaporean cuisine. This flavorful and spicy pasta dish is a perfect combination of prawns, garlic, and chili, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 300g linguine pasta
- 400g prawns, peeled and deveined
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons har cheong (fermented shrimp paste)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Chopped spring onions for garnish
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of water and cook the linguine according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped red chilies, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the prawns and cook until they turn pink and opaque.
- Stir in the har cheong, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and chicken stock. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Add the cooked linguine to the pan and toss to coat the pasta with the prawn mixture.
- Season with salt to taste and garnish with chopped spring onions.
- Serve hot and enjoy your Har Cheong Gai!
