Harissa Mutton (हरिस्सा मटन)
हरिस्सा मटन (Harissa Mutton) is a traditional Kashmiri dish known for its rich and spicy flavors. This slow-cooked mutton dish is perfect for special occasions and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp harissa paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions are golden brown.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Stir in harissa paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until the mutton is tender.
- Once the mutton is cooked, add yogurt and green chilies. Cook for another 10 minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
