Harissa Mutton (हरिस्सा मटन)

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp harissa paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  2. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions are golden brown.
  3. Add mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
  4. Stir in harissa paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  5. Pour in water and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until the mutton is tender.
  6. Once the mutton is cooked, add yogurt and green chilies. Cook for another 10 minutes.
  7. Adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
