Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon rose water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the semolina, sugar, yogurt, melted butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, rose water, and cardamom until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped almonds and pistachios over the top of the batter.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into diamond or square shapes.
  7. Serve the harisseh warm or at room temperature.
