Havelland Apfelstrudel (havelland Apple Strudel)
This traditional dessert from Brandenburg cuisine is a delicious apple strudel that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 6 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and walnuts.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Repeat with the remaining phyllo sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
- Spread the apple mixture along one edge of the phyllo stack and roll it up.
- Place the strudel on a baking sheet, seam side down, and brush with more melted butter.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
