Hazaragi Spiced Lamb Meatballs (Kofta-e Gousfand)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground lamb, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Transfer the meatballs to a serving platter and serve hot.
