Ingredients

  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1 cup of water until smooth.
  3. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan with the sugar syrup, stirring constantly.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and becomes translucent (about 15-20 minutes).
  5. Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the rose water.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x9 inch pan and smooth the top. Let it cool at room temperature for 2 hours.
