Hmarcha Chopa (smoked Pork Chops)
Hmarcha Chopa, also known as Smoked Pork Chops, is a traditional dish from Tripuri Cuisine that is bursting with flavor and aroma. This dish is a perfect combination of tender pork chops and aromatic spices, making it a favorite among food enthusiasts.
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 2 tbsp hmarcha (Tripuri red chili paste)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Water as needed
Instructions
- Marinate the pork chops with hmarcha, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and sear the marinated pork chops until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add cumin powder, coriander powder, and slit green chilies. Cook for a few minutes.
- Place the seared pork chops back into the pan. Add water as needed to create a thick gravy. Cover and cook on low heat for 40-45 minutes until the pork chops are tender.
- Once the pork chops are cooked through, remove from heat and serve hot.
