Hmarcha Chopa (smoked Pork Chops)

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops
  • 2 tbsp hmarcha (Tripuri red chili paste)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Marinate the pork chops with hmarcha, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat mustard oil in a pan and sear the marinated pork chops until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  4. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, and slit green chilies. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Place the seared pork chops back into the pan. Add water as needed to create a thick gravy. Cover and cook on low heat for 40-45 minutes until the pork chops are tender.
  6. Once the pork chops are cooked through, remove from heat and serve hot.
