Hokkien Mee (福建面)
福建面 (Hokkien Mee) is a popular Malaysian Chinese stir-fried noodle dish that is full of umami flavors and a variety of textures. It is a must-try for anyone who loves Malaysian cuisine.
Ingredients
- 300g Hokkien noodles
- 200g prawns, peeled and deveined
- 200g pork belly, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 eggs
- 200g bean sprouts
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a wok over high heat. Add the prawns and pork belly, and stir-fry until the prawns are pink and the pork is cooked through. Remove from the wok and set aside.
- Add the remaining cooking oil to the wok. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Push the garlic to one side of the wok and crack the eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until they are just set.
- Add the Hokkien noodles, soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and ground white pepper to the wok. Stir-fry until the noodles are well-coated with the sauce.
- Return the prawns and pork belly to the wok. Add the bean sprouts and continue to stir-fry until everything is heated through.
- Divide the Hokkien Mee among serving plates and serve hot.
