Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef brisket, cut into chunks
  • 1 piece ginger, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 12 oz hand-pulled noodles

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the beef chunks over medium heat.
  2. Add ginger, garlic, and green onions to the pot and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the star anise, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sugar.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  5. Cook the hand-pulled noodles according to package instructions.
  6. To serve, place a portion of noodles in a bowl and ladle the braised beef and broth over the top.
