Hu Jiao Xia (black Pepper Prawns)
Hu Jiao Xia, or Black Pepper Prawns, is a popular dish in Pakistani Chinese cuisine, known for its bold flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 spring onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the prawns with soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and sugar for 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or pan over high heat. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies, and stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Add the marinated prawns and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the water and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
