湖北炖鸡 (Hubei-style Braised Chicken) is a classic dish from the Hubei province of China, known for its rich flavors and tender chicken.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 3 slices of ginger
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ginger, garlic, and green onions, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pot and brown them on all sides.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine. Stir in the sugar and chicken broth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is tender.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pot and place it on a serving dish.
- Simmer the sauce until it thickens, then pour it over the chicken.
- Serve the Hubei-style braised chicken hot with steamed rice.
