Ingredients

  • 500g pork intestines, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 3 slices of ginger
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a wok over medium heat. Add the ginger and green onions, and stir-fry until fragrant.
  2. Add the pork intestines to the wok and stir-fry for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine. Stir well to coat the pork intestines.
  4. Add the sugar, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours until the pork intestines are tender.
  6. Once the pork intestines are tender, uncover the wok and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
