Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté the garlic, ginger, and green onions until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  5. Add the fried tofu back into the pan and pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
