红烧排骨 (Hunan-style Braised Spare Ribs) is a classic dish in Hunan cuisine, known for its rich and savory flavors.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg spare ribs, cut into individual pieces
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups water
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ginger and garlic, and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the spare ribs to the pot and brown them on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine. Stir to coat the spare ribs evenly.
- Sprinkle the sugar over the spare ribs, then pour in the water.
- Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until the spare ribs are tender.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
