Hundun Tang (hearty Manchu Wonton Soup)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, shrimp, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Place a small amount of the pork and shrimp mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle. Press the edges to seal.
  3. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the wontons and bok choy, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Once the wontons are cooked through, add the chopped cilantro to the soup and stir gently.
  5. Serve the Hundun Tang hot in bowls and enjoy!
