Ingredients
- 6-8 ripe plums, pitted
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup semolina
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, semolina, sugar, and salt to form a dough.
- Divide the dough into small portions and wrap each portion around a pitted plum, forming a smooth ball.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully drop the dumplings into the boiling water. Cook for about 10-12 minutes or until the dumplings float to the surface.
- In a separate pan, melt the butter and add the breadcrumbs. Toast the breadcrumbs until golden brown.
- Roll the cooked dumplings in the buttery breadcrumbs until coated.
- Serve the Szilvásgombóc dusted with powdered sugar.
