Ingredients
- 2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs, separated

- 1/2 cup milk
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the walnuts, sugar, flour, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with the vanilla extract, melted butter, and milk. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve the Diós Torta with a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
