Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups ground walnuts
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and milk. Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the ground walnuts, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the filling.
  5. Spread the walnut filling evenly over the dough rectangles.
  6. Roll up each rectangle jelly-roll style, starting from a long side. Place the rolls seam side down on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the rolls to cool before slicing and serving.
