Hutspot Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 500g carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes and carrots in a large pot of salted water until tender, then drain and mash them together with the butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a separate pan, sauté the onions until translucent, then add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  4. Spread the beef and onion mixture in the bottom of a baking dish, then top with the mashed potato and carrot mixture.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
