Hutspot Shepherd's Pie
Hutspot Shepherd's Pie is a delicious Dutch twist on the classic shepherd's pie, featuring a hearty combination of mashed potatoes, carrots, onions, and ground beef. This comforting dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a casual gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 500g carrots, peeled and chopped
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 500g ground beef
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes and carrots in a large pot of salted water until tender, then drain and mash them together with the butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a separate pan, sauté the onions until translucent, then add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Spread the beef and onion mixture in the bottom of a baking dish, then top with the mashed potato and carrot mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
