Hutspot Shepherd's Pie Sliders
Hutspot Shepherd's Pie Sliders are a delicious Dutch twist on the classic shepherd's pie, served in a fun and portable slider form. These sliders are perfect for parties, game day, or a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup parsnips, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup grated Gouda cheese
- 12 slider buns
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the carrots, parsnips, and peas to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the broth and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a baking dish.
- Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef and vegetables, spreading them evenly.
- Sprinkle the Gouda cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- While the sliders are baking, lightly toast the slider buns in a skillet with butter.
- Assemble the sliders by placing a spoonful of the shepherd's pie mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then topping with the other half of the bun.
