Hyderabadi Dum Ka Murgh (حیدرآبادی دم کا مرغ)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts, ground into a paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the sliced onions. Cook until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
  4. Add the cashew nut paste, garam masala, and fresh cream. Mix well and cook for another 10 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves on top and simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Hyderabadi Dum Ka Murgh is ready to be served hot with naan or steamed rice.
