Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets, cut into chunks
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 3 stalks lemongrass, smashed
  • 5 kaffir lime leaves
  • 2 Tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 Tbsp palm sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine water, shallots, garlic, tomatoes, red chilies, green chilies, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add tamarind paste, palm sugar, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Add fish fillets and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  4. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice.
