Imli Ki Chutney (sweet And Sour Tamarind Chutney)
Imli ki chutney, also known as sweet and sour tamarind chutney, is a popular condiment in Navyath Muslim Cuisine. It is a versatile and flavorful chutney that can be served with snacks, chaat, samosas, and pakoras.
Ingredients
- 1 cup tamarind pulp
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup jaggery (or sugar)
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon black salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine tamarind pulp and water. Bring it to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add jaggery (or sugar) and continue to simmer until it thickens, stirring occasionally.
- Once the chutney reaches a thick consistency, add roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, black salt, ginger powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool. The chutney will thicken further as it cools.
- Store in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
