Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Then, drain the water and set the rice aside.
- In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once the seeds crackle, add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Now, add the soaked rice and water. Cover the pan and cook until the rice is done.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and serve hot.
