Imli Wala Gosht (tangy Tamarind Lamb)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg lamb, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Add the lamb pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the turmeric, red chili, cumin, and coriander powders, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the tamarind pulp and water. Cover and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the lamb is tender.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or naan.
