Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken, beef, or lamb, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the chopped onion, minced garlic, ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric, soy sauce, brown sugar, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the meat cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated meat onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  5. Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and slightly charred.
  6. Serve the grilled skewers with a side of peanut sauce and steamed rice.
