Inlagd Gurka Perfektion, or Pickled Cucumber Perfection, is a classic Swedish dish that is perfect for summer gatherings or as a side dish for your favorite Swedish meals.
Ingredients
- 4 small cucumbers, thinly sliced
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
- 2 bay leaves
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, whole black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let the brine cool to room temperature.
- Place the thinly sliced cucumbers in a clean, sterilized glass jar or container.
- Pour the cooled brine over the cucumbers, making sure they are fully submerged. If needed, place a small plate or weight on top to keep the cucumbers submerged.
- Seal the jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving. The pickled cucumbers will last in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
