Irresistible Hyderabadi Chicken Korma

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 1/4 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine yogurt, fried onions, cashew nuts, and desiccated coconut. Blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat ghee in a large pot. Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and cumin seeds. Sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  5. Pour in the yogurt and nut paste. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the gravy is thick.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
