Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion, green chilies, and diced red bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Stir in the minced ginger and garlic, and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook until they turn pink and opaque.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the tomato ketchup, soy sauce, chili powder, sugar, and salt. Pour this sauce over the cooked shrimp and vegetables.
  6. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce coats the shrimp and thickens slightly.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
