Istarska Fritaja (istrian Fritaja)
Istarska fritaja, also known as Istrian Fritaja, is a traditional dish from the Croatian region of Istria. This simple and delicious omelette is made with fresh eggs and a variety of seasonal ingredients, making it a versatile and satisfying meal for any time of day.
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 50g prosciutto, chopped
- 50g cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the diced tomato and prosciutto to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the beaten eggs into the pan and cook, stirring gently, until the eggs are set but still slightly runny.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top of the fritaja and cook for another minute until the cheese melts.
- Slide the fritaja onto a plate, cut into wedges, and serve hot.
