Jachnun Delight
Jachnun is a popular Yemenite Jewish pastry that is traditionally slow-cooked overnight and served for Shabbat breakfast. This recipe for Jachnun Delight puts a modern twist on the classic dish, making it perfect for a special weekend brunch or a festive holiday meal.
Ingredients
- 1 kg flour
- 250g margarine
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 6-8 hard-boiled eggs
Instructions
- Combine the flour, margarine, oil, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Place the dough balls in a greased baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rest in the refrigerator overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 100°C (212°F). Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 8 hours, or until the jachnun is golden brown and flaky.
- Serve the jachnun hot, accompanied by hard-boiled eggs and a drizzle of honey.
