Jalebi (sweet Jalebi)

Jalebi is a popular Indian sweet made from deep-fried maida batter, soaked in sugar syrup. It is a delicious and crispy dessert that is enjoyed on special occasions and festivals.

Jalebi (sweet Jalebi)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron strands
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, yogurt, and baking soda to make a smooth batter. Let it ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and saffron. Boil the mixture until it reaches one-string consistency to make the sugar syrup.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle or piping bag. Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion to form jalebi shapes. Fry until they are crisp and golden.
  4. Remove the jalebis from the oil and immediately dip them into the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for a few seconds, then remove and place on a plate.
  5. Serve the jalebis warm and enjoy!
